| This is my second semester working for the South Bronx Educational Foundation. The program was even better this time around; we tried lots of new activities and new formats… I’m especially proud of influencing some of the new formats! All of the volunteers were so much fun to work with and get to know, but the best part was starting to feel like a part of the “family” there. I know I said this last semester, but I’m really looking forward to getting back there next semester! |

| Like many others, this was the first time that I came across CBA Service Learning. Being part of CBA Service Learning this semester was truly beneficial because I was able to be part of two placements where I was able to give back to my community by helping those in need. Through my time at both placement, it greatly increased my awareness of many issues such as poverty. I see myself continuing to volunteer at both placements and I am grateful of the opportunities that CBA Service Learning brought to me. |

| I had never heard of CBA Service before my Business Communications class this semester. I was intrigued by the opportunity to be rewarded for community service, and am very glad that I chose to participate. I think that I learned many valuable things this semester; one of the most important lessons I take away is that it is possible to integrate a business education and doing for others. I would love to participate in CBA Service again, and definitely plan to continue working with the Edge tutoring program. |

| Looking back on my second semester in CBA service learning stirs some of my fondest memories at Fordham. It is hard to believe all of the experiences I have been through as a result of service learning: from learning to run a fair trade business to traveling to Kenya to consult on accounting practices. This program has made me a better person, by widening my view of the world. |

| Overall my service to the fair trade business continued to be a pleasure. I am consistently inspired by the members of the fair trade team and by the leadership of Kate Combellick. Our business is one that thrives on a selfless desire to help others on the other side of the planet live a better life, and I am lucky that I have been able to come in contact with so many generous students and administrators throughout my service. Even though I believe that this project is still in its infancy, we have made great strides this year and I am confident that next year's team will propel us to even greater success. I look forward to continuing to work with Kate and every other student and administrator at Fordham who sincerely wishes to make the world a better place. |

| It was awesome being involved in the CBA service learning because I was allowed to work with other students. I was involved in helping students pass their mastery exams so they can get their high school credits and finally graduate. This way they can contribute to society in the future. They have also taught me something about myself; I can teach others and am able to communicate very well.I was glad my friend Charles Lazo mentioned this program to me. He has been in the program and I was inspired by him and thought it was a good idea to help others.

| This is my first time to join CBA Service Learning program. It gave me an excellent platform to gain real experience and engage ourselves to volunteer the community. This semester, I participated in the newly formed SAT prep program EDGE. We helped some high school students in the Bronx to prepare for their SAT exams, including critical reading, writing and mathematics. We chose practical exercises, checked their answers and explained many problems they had. I spent much time on helping those students’ math. Also, we recommended some tips of application, introduced some universities and majors, and shared our college experience with them. In the SAT tutoring group, I was impressed by my teammates’ cooperation, efficiency and persistence. It is my pleasure to help high school students to pursue their dreams. I will continue to do volunteer work and try to play greater roles. The goal is to achieve that tiny help at the end of race that separates greatness from mediocrity. The process of helping others itself is the true reward. |

| This is my third time for CBA Service Learning program and also my second semsester volunteering at LIFT. LIFT is a very professional non-profit organization to help people deal with all kinds of social problems by one-to-one client service meetings. It is much more challenging and interesting than I expected before. Although I attained some experience last semester, client service requires much more than that. I still learned a lot while I helped others in the meetings. Housings, resumes, applying for public benefits, and finding jobs--all of them force me to be familiar the society and to understand the needs of the the people. The trainings opened up my view of the different areas. However, real experience is more important. I like working at LIFT because of the friendly people and the possibily to help other as well as enrich my knowledge.
This is my last time for CBA Service learning. However, I will continue to do volunteer work and prepare myself as a woman for others. |

| At first I was not very excited for this community service project because I myself have never been a very community service oriented person. Throughout my time at the Concourse House I learned to love it and I can't wait to go back there next fall. After few weeks working at the Concourse House I learned a lot about myself in terms of how influential I can be on someone who looks up at me as a role model. I think it is crucial to pass on our values and ethics we have learned from life and Fordham University to those who don't have an access to such sources. This will make the community better which in the long run makes the world a better place to live in. All that for some three to four hours of volunteering a week. It is very simple and makes me wonder why doesn't everyone do this. It should become a college requirement to do some kind of service for those that need to be serviced. Fordham, thank you for encouraging me to help others, because after all they helped me more without even realizing their influences on my growth as a person. |

| As business students, I feel that at times our education is too focused on the bottom. While chasing profits, it can be easy for us to neglect those who have been displaced by our system. Working at LIFT has directly exposed me to those who have been displaced. It has changed the way I view the world. I am disturbed by what I have learned, yet I am hopeful that passionate organizations like LIFT are out there providing those displaced with opportunity. CBA service and LIFT gave me the opportunity to get out of the profit seeking mindset and have some real life experiences. |
